Heavy rain is forecast to disrupt the United States Grand Prix weekend at Circuit of the Americas.
Most of Texas has been in a state of drought after a lack of rain over the summer, but humid conditions and heavy rain are forecast throughout the race weekend, which could impact on running in Austin.
Much of the rain will come as a result of Tropical Storm Patricia, which the Austin Statesman reports is likely to be upgraded to a hurricane as it comes close to making landfall on the west coast of Mexico, forcing downpours towards Texas.
The worst of the weather is predicted between Friday morning and Saturday evening, with up to seven inches of rain forecast to fall in some areas. The National Weather Service has warned of a risk of flash flooding until Saturday night if the predicted amount of rain falls in a short amount of time on dry ground.
Further rain may continue to fall on Sunday morning, but the current forecast suggests the race itself should take place after the worst of the weather has passed thorough the region.
