Kvyat keen to avoid Suzuka repeat at home race

Daniil Kvyat is keen to avoid a repeat of his FP3 struggles in Suzuka after wet weather limited running during Friday practice for the Russian Grand Prix.

With Friday in Japan being hit by rain, Kvyat endured a difficult FP3 before crashing heavily on his final Q3 lap during qualifying. Following a similar start to the weekend of his home race in Sochi, Kvyat says final practice takes on even more importance following his troubles two weeks ago.

Asked how competitive Red Bull can expect to be on Saturday, Kvyat replied:  "Depends on how we manage to get it right.

"I hope we manage to do some nice laps tomorrow morning. It will be quite an important P3 tomorrow morning so for sure everyone will be trying to do as much as possible in P3 because today was a very irrelevant day and this will define our qualifying.

"In Japan our FP3 was not great and this was quite a high influence for qualifying and we need to have a good P3 tomorrow and aim to be in good shape."

And Kvyat says he is not distracted by the speculation over Red Bull's future in the sport, despite team-mate Daniel Ricciardo admitting some concerns.

"I just don't read anything to be honest. I just speak with the people who are inside the team just to keep ... we just have to be patient and see what the final decision is going to be like. Maybe it is a bit unclear. Let's wait and see what happens."
