Quadruple world champion Alain Prost believes the sensational Max Verstappen is already a F1 star, and is just getting warmed up when it comes to his future achievements in Grand Prix racing.
In his first race with Red Bull last Sunday in Barcelona, following his shock switch from Toro Rosso, the teenager won his first Grand Prix at the record and ripe old age of 18 years and 228 days!
Speaking to French broadcaster Canal Plus, Alain Prost praised the youngster's prowess and skill.
"It's a breath of fresh air for F1," said the61-year-old Renault ambassador.
"He certainly won the best race for a long time with great authority. He didn't make a single mistake all weekend, and resisted the pressure from Raikkonen in the race."
Prost admitted the terminal collision which involved the Mercedes drivers at the front benefitted Verstappen, but the incident took nothing away from the Dutch prodigy's incredible performance and display of talent.
"Although he benefitted from the collision of the two Mercedes drivers, his incredible maturity was really surprising.
"This is the confirmation of a champion. Now one wonders how far he can go because he is only 18 and it's almost going too fast for him. He's already a star."
