Rosberg remembers 'really bad' 2016 Barcelona foul-up

Two years on, Nico Rosberg still has vivid memories of the painful first lap mutual fumble that put himself and Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton out of the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.

The race was a remarkable milestone in the career of Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen, who at 18 years and 228 days became the youngest Grand Prix winner in the history of Formula 1.

But for the dueling Mercedes duo, the day was over after a few hundred yards when poleman Hamilton was jumped by Rosberg at the start, then attempted to regain the lead only to be pushed on to the grass by the German before losing control and hitting his team mate, leaving the pair stranded in the kitty litter.

That day, Rosberg was fighting for an eighth consecutive win so it was a bitter blow for the future world champion, and an even worse hit for the entire Mercedes team.
