While the Hungaroring basked in the muffled sound of modern F1, screaming DFV's resonated through the Northamptonshire countryside thanks to the Silverstone Classic.

Founded in 1990, the packed weekend of vintage racing is a hugely popular event, for both competitors and spectators.

As usual, the high point was undoubtedly the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship, a series which caters to 3-litre F1 cars from 1966 to 1985.

There's nothing like Cosworth DFV power and some creative designs to throw us back to a bygone era to watch a superb spectacle of sight and sound.

Especially sound. So pump up the volume!
