Ferrari ignoring others - Raikkonen

Kimi Raikkonen says Ferrari is ignoring the progress of its rivals after topping the times on three of the four days of testing at Jerez.

Sebastian Vettel was quickest on the opening two days before handing over to his new team-mate, with Raikkonen second to Felipe Nasr on day three. Wednesday saw Raikkonen post the fastest time of the week but he insists Ferrari will not be looking at how it compares to other teams at this stage.

"We do our own stuff, we don’t know what the others are doing," Raikkonen said. "Yesterday I said we had a good starting point and the team has done a good job over the winter to prepare this car. We have something to work with now.

"[Finishing fastest] doesn’t mean much. The lap time can be anything but we’ve got a good amount of laps and things are working, we’re not really having many issues. That’s the main thing plus the feeling is pretty fine, so that’s good."

While happy with Ferrari's starting point, Raikkonen wants the team to focus on improving quickly ahead of the second test.

"Compared to last year I found it much better but we still have a lot of things to work on an improve. But we have something we can work with and the team has done a good job over the winter to prepare and make this car so we can be happy about that. Obviously it’s still early days but not too bad."
