Grosjean: Chances of move hit by Lotus uncertainty

Romain Grosjean says his chances of impressing bigger teams have been hit by a lack of progress from Lotus in 2015.

With Renault looking to take control of Lotus, the team’s ownership situation is uncertain which has led to limited development so far this season. Grosjean was touted as a potential Ferrari driver during an impressive spell of form at the end of 2013, but since then Lotus has been uncompetitive.

When it was put to Grosjean the lack of development at Lotus is hurting his own ability to show his potential to bigger teams and therefore ruling him out of a potential move, he replied: “Yeah that’s a point as well, but there’s nothing I can do.

“The best I can do is to try and do my job as good as I can. My record against my team-mate has been pretty good, so that’s the best you can do.

“Look at Fernando: everyone says he is one of the best drivers and at the minute he is completely at the back but he is as good as he was before.”

And Grosjean says it is painful to see Lotus slipping back in the pecking order having started the season with a quick car.

“If you start the season well and you cannot bring new parts then it’s going to fall down. Force India, Toro Rosso, Red Bull - everyone has brought some nice parts and new updates and they are now quicker than we are.”
