Kaltenborn praise for Sauber driver pairing

Monisha Kaltenborn says she is pleased by how well-matched Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson have been so far this season.

Nasr marked his debut with fifth place in Australia while Ericsson finished eighth, while the Brazilian also had the upper hand as both cars scored in China. However, it was Ericsson who was the quicker of the two before retiring in Malaysia and then being hit by a pit stop issue in Bahrain. With both drivers trading competitive weekends, Kaltenborn says she is enjoying the battle between the two.

“If you look at how close they are to each other - which is a good thing - one is faster than the other then the next time it’s the other one,” Kaltenborn told F1i. “So it’s very well balanced and that’s good. That shows you what level they are and what level the car is and it just depends probably who has the better day or so as to who is ahead.”

And Nasr himself says he will improve quickly having completed all four races so far as well as securing strong results at the start of his F1 career.

“It’s gone well,” Nasr said. “A few up and downs but it’s nice to finish four races in a row. I think we extracted the most from all of the opportunities … Things to learn but as I said, four races in a row, finishing all of them brings me more experience.”
