The McLaren MP4/4 was a radical departure from anything the Woking-based outfit had produced up to then. The car's basic structure was not ground-breaking however, with a design centered around a chassis which embedded once again McLaren's proven carbon fiber technology which the manufacturer had pioneered seven years earlier, with its very first MP4 creation.
