His Saturday practice crash put him behind the eight ball for qualifying with a far from stellar sixth place, to which a five-spot penalty was tacked on for a gearbox change. The Iceman charged hard off the line, but erred by going to the outside of Hülkenberg, which cost him six places. After the mishap, fifth was the best he could hope for and that’s what we got.
