F1i's Driver Ratings for the Belgian GP

Stoffel Vandoorne (fourteenth) : 7/10

Condemned to start from Stavelot before qualifying, the local driver chose not to overdo it, preferring to help (in vain) Alonso make it into the top ten. Stoffel got a good start, gobbling up the Saubers, but was then crippled by his under-powered Honda. He spent most of his Sunday filling up Palmer’s mirrors, but wasn’t able to attack.

Jolyon Palmer (thirteenth) : 6.5/10

The constant black cloud over his head isn’t dissipating and he certainly doesn’t need that. For two days however he was the Renault driver on form, brilliantly making it to Q3. But a broken gearbox prevented him from setting a time. This was the beginning of the end for Jo, who dropped to row seven. In the race, he couldn’t extricate himself from traffic and find the proper pace, despite the intervention of the safety car, to move up the order.
