Williams, whose aero department is headed by former Ferrari man Dirk de Beer, also redesigned the sidepod vane on the FW40. The horizontal part of the element is now much longer and extends all the way to the cockpit. As a result, the three vortex-generating fins (see red arrows) that used to sit atop the sidepod inlets have been removed
