Williams : 40 years of F1 in eleven cars

FW26 (2004)

The walrus or rather the manta ray! While the FW26 will be remembered uniquely thanks to or because of this radical nose-cone. At the request of engine partner BMW, Williams tried to get the most out of the double keel principle. In the first test sessions, the drivers were dubious because of the weight of its prominent nose. The race weekends proved them right, with just four podiums and a win at the season finale at Interlagos where the team’s switch to a more traditional nose made the car more competitive.
