Look back - Jim Clark

Born on this day 80 years ago was the great Jim Clark. A two-time F1 world champion (1963 and 1965), the Scotsman is pictured above debuting the genial Lotus 49 at Zandvoort.

Designed by renowned engineer Colin Chapman, the car was based around the Cosworth DFV V8. As Clark took victory in the the Netherlands that weekend, it became the first stressed member engine to win in the sport.
