Laffite's 1979 grand slams with Ligier

Laffite Look back

Jacques Laffite was off to a great start in the 1979 F1 season, with the Frenchman winning the opening two grands prix in Argentina and Brazil. The Ligier ace’s dominance was such that he added pole position and fastest lap in the race on both occasions.

However, the team’s performance would tail off over the remainder of its campaign and a string of eight retirements would see Laffite gradually slip out of the title hunt to finish fourth in the championship.
