Lorenzo Patrese is following in the footsteps of his famous father, the 12-year-old currently learning his trade in the junior karting ranks.
Last weekend in Adria, father and son met up with one of Riccardo's most fierce rivals from his own karting days: the great Terry Fullerton.
The British racer and 1973 world karting champion was once described by Ayrton Senna as the driver he had the most satisfaction racing against. The two men were team mates in the Italian factory DAP squad in 1980.
Riccardo Patrese has fond memories of his own of Terry Fullerton.
"I knew Terry very well, I raced against him for many years," remembers the former F1 driver.
"He was world karting champion in 1973 and I beat him at Estoril in 1974 to win the championship. When Ayrton said that Terry was the strongest driver he raced against that made me proud because I raced against him and beat him. Ayrton was right that Terry was a fantastic driver."
